Derwent Inktense pencils are so bold in color and have such versatility, it makes them a wonderful art supply. The bold ink saturates the paper. You can use them dry, or choose to activate the color! Once activated and dry, the pigment won’t move. That makes them perfect for layering!
I drew this bird in my watercolor sketchbook, bearing in mind that I would be activating the color afterwards. I approach using these pencils differently than regular watercolor pencils. With only a little water, there is a lot of pigment that could move. I suggest using a round brush so that you can utilize the tip for careful movement. Now that the pigment is activated, there is bold color!
