Creamy Soho oil pastels are wonderful to use. I especially love to use them in botanical paintings, as their creamy texture is easy to blend. I sometimes leave little "chunks" for added texture of flower petals. The range of color is nice, and they work well with my other favorites! There is a YouTube short at the bottom of the post. Oil Pastel Yellow Flower on Toned Canson Paper
As autumn marches on (it's been beautiful!) the color of yellow transitions well from summer to fall. I have used my favorite colors from Mungyo Gallery, Paul Rubens, and the lovely peach from Artecho on Canson Graduate toned paper. The thing that I love about impressionism is that sometimes you just want the idea of a thing. The texture and colors are the take away. Don't get me wrong, I love amazing realistic paintings. Wow! This seascape mixed media painting was done in 2024. I love flipping through my Somerset Studio magazines! The articles and gorgeous art is always inspiring. Mixed Media Flowers: Derwent & Lyra
I love combining my art supplies! Today, I have my Lyra crayons and Derwent Inktense pencils. They work very well together! These are some quick flowers on Canson Graduate toned paper. I later filled in the background, as you can see in the following photos.
