This bright and cheery palette worked wonderfully on a pink background. I used a deckled edge handmade paper that is ready for framing! I used my lovely Mungyo Gallery oil pastels along with a beautiful silver Sennelier oil pastel. I love the calming effect from theses colors and creamy pastels. I have a VIDEO at the bottom of the post if you would like to see the process. ... View the Post
Oil Pastels on Canvas & VIDEO
If you have ever wondered if you can use oil pastels on canvas, yes you can! I used 5 x 7 inch canvas board and painted some colors in acrylic paint on several at a time. If you have the paint out for one thing, you might as well paint a bunch! :) I used pastel greens and blues. Acrylic dries fairly quickly, so I then grabbed my oil pastels! I decided to go with a bright and light palette. I love the sunny yellow and cool greens. I mostly used Mungyo Gallery and Artecho. They have some great ... View the Post
Oil Pastel Floral Arrangement & VIDEO
I love painting floral arrangements, and this painting turned out to be in bright colors with a calming purple backdrop. Sometimes, I use floral arrangement designs to inspire the painting process. Since I have brown thumbs, I have to paint my flowers. :) I use a combination of oil pastels (Paul Rubens, Mungyo Gallery, and Artecho). Each set has unique colors that I love! The Strathmore art journal sketchbook has toned paper, which can help with the white blank paper problem that every ... View the Post
Impressionistic Floral Oil Pastel Painting | Sketchbook Art Process & VIDEO
I love loose, impressionistic florals that convey a softness and grace. I think flowers are (among other reasons) God's gift to us. They are fragrant, colorful, soft, and have such a lovely variety of shapes. He said Himself that King Solomon was not even dressed as well as the flowers! I used mostly Mungyo Gallery oil pastels and added Sennelier gold for highlights at the end. I have a VIDEO at the bottom of the post! I decided to add a light gray background that I think makes the ... View the Post
Oil Pastel Florals in Ceramic Vase & VIDEO
I love earthy colors, so this floral arrangement has almost all of my favorites! I painted the vase to be a ceramic look. I used mostly Mungyo Gallery oil pastels on my Strathmore toned tan paper art journal. Tape off the sides with washi for a clean edge finish. This first photo show the basic sketch with a charcoal pencil. It helps me to see the proportions and direction of the stems. I have a video at the bottom of the post , if you want to see the sped-up process. I hope you try ... View the Post
Rosa Gallery Watercolors
I let this swatch and small sketchbook painting fall through the cracks. I quickly painted this small landscape to try the beautiful Rosa Gallery watercolors. The botanical set is so rich and pigmented! I have since painted several things that show the watercolors off better than this little guy, but I thought I would show it in case anyone else thinks their sketchbook isn't an important part of creative growth. Everything we paint isn't going to be a masterpiece, but it all will help form our ... View the Post
