Using oil pastels on a black background can give new inspiration, and I love this bright palette! I used Strathmore black paper that is a great weight. It would be lovely for colored pencils, acrylic, and gouache as well! The Artecho brand of oil pastels has some lovely colors. I mostly used that set for this floral motif. I finished with metallic accents using Sennelier oil pastels. I love to turn these motifs into surface pattern designs that I use in paper crafting and interior design at Spoonflower. You can see some examples below.

I love this palette, especially in the winter where everything is a bit more drab in my state. That Sennelier silver and gold are amazing!
