Mixed Media Cat with Face Stencil

I love playing with my Jane Davenport Face Stencils! I thought it would be fun to draw a personified cat with them! I love how she turned out. Don't be afraid to experiment. Gouache Florals on Black Paper Painting & VIDEO

I love using gouache on black drawing paper or watercolor paper. The opaque, bold color of gouache against the dramatic black is so lovely! I painted these flowers in a vase on a card-sized panel, so it can be a lovely, unique card that won't spoil by smudging. ... View the Post

Wonky Birds Painted in Gouache

Here are two queen birds diplomatically deciding who is in charge! :) I've used Arteza gouache and my Posca paint pens. And yes, my desk is messy. :) ... View the Post

A Sheep in Tudor Dress & Video

Why, you ask? I'm not sure, but I just love putting animals in people clothes. :) The magical, storybook tales of personified animals are always a favorite. Art journals are perfect for these explorations of the imagination, so why not? Put the sheep in a dress. It was a quick ink drawing with watercolor added, then I topped it all with some shimmer! ... Oil Pastel Flowers on Color Paper

As I have been circling back around to oil pastels in my studio, I saw that I hadn't posted these wildflower beauties from several months ago! One painting is on Strathmore's toned tan paper, and the other is on some quality black drawing paper. I mixed in some soft pastel as well. I love that so many art supplies can work together to provide great variety of textures. Using your art supplies on different paper types and canvas can help you discover their wonderful potential! ... View the Post
