Delicate Flowers with Inktense Pencils

I am here again with one of my favorite art supplies! Inktense pencils are made by Derwent. They are an amazing, vibrant, ink-based colored pencil. You can use it dry or activate it with water. Once the activated ink dries and sets, it won't move. This is a great quality for underpaintings! I love this delicate pattern for wallpaper & fabric! You can purchase it HERE at Spoonflower. :) ... Watercolor Crab with Iridescent Medium

These crabs were fun to paint in watercolor. Each crab is just one color with varying degrees of intensity. I was a bit brave and didn't sketch them first. I just painted in an organic way, allowing the "blob" to take a crab shape. While they were still wet, I dropped in Winsor & Newton Iridescent medium. The sparkle is amazing. It is a fun medium to try. You can add it to your painting, as I did here, or add it to your paint in advance before starting your work. I love the bold ... View the Post

Line & Wash Hand-Drawn Cards

I can make a quick muddle of cards when it comes to stamping. I end up dropping the stamp on the card half of the time! :) Sometimes, it is just easier to draw and paint a simple line flower and wash of watercolor. Try it! You can do it. :) I love lime and teal together! I did stamp the sentiment, as my hand lettering skills are more dire than my stamping skills. If you use Micron pens and let your art dry, you can use wet media over the top without bleeding. ... View the Post

Using Colored Pencils on Cardstock For Cards

Colored pencils were my first art supply love, and I still use them on a regular basis. I often use them with watercolor, as their opaque textural strength helps the look of watercolor. Here, I have done the opposite. I started with colored pencil, then added a bit of metallic watercolor. I love the effect! You can dip into your cardstock stash with simple flowers to make unique, handmade cards (VIDEO BELOW). I have also created a seamless pattern in various colorways. You can see examples ... Oil Pastel Painting “Path in the Woods”

I love my oil pastels! This quick painting was done in my Royal Talens art journal. I love using Paul Rubens and Mungyo oil pastels. They have a great balance of creaminess, while still having the ability to layer. This was just an art exercise, but it was still fun! I did't film it, but the pictures will show you the major layers. ... View the Post

Mixed Media Nesting Doll Painting & VIDEO

Since I was young, I have had a love for nesting dolls. I love how they neatly stack inside one another. Then, you take them out one by one, until you get to the tiniest one left! Of course, they are usually painted so beautifully as well. They are interactive art. I've used my Artsy metallic watercolors on black watercolor paper, cut to a card size. With gouache and Posca pens, I painted the doll. I love the shimmer! VIDEO BELOW! ... View the Post
