I keep trying to love these Tim Holtz Distress watercolor pencils. I have sets one through three. I do love the Distress color line, and often used the sprays and ink pads. These pencils look so pretty in their little tins. :) I grabbed an older Papercraft Society box, as I have been churning out a fair deal of cards lately. I smooshed some liquid ink on Bristol paper. I stamped the image on a piece of sturdy cardstock and used the pencils to color. I used a Tonic Studios shimmer pen to add ... View the Post
Mixed Media Board
Sometimes, you just have to collage. There are days when I don't have a plan, or am not feeling well enough to be creative. Making a mixed media "board" is the perfect thing to do! I used mixed media paper, taped it off to create two sections, and started by gluing down some gel-printed rice paper. The steps are as you see below in the following pictures. I added gesso, scaped soft pastels and activated with water, stamped, and splattered. I removed the tape and ended up with ... View the Post

I have a variety of techniques in the pictures below, but the inky leaves are among my favorites. :) The Sizzix Leaf Fragments are so easy to use! Calligraphy inks and embossing folders are very easy ways to add ... View the Post
Line & Wash Hand-Drawn Cards
I can make a quick muddle of cards when it comes to stamping. I end up dropping the stamp on the card half of the time! :) Sometimes, it is just easier to draw and paint a simple line flower and wash of watercolor. Try it! You can do it. :) I love lime and teal together! I did stamp the sentiment, as my hand lettering skills are more dire than my stamping skills. If you use Micron pens and let your art dry, you can use wet media over the top without bleeding. ... View the Post
Using Colored Pencils on Cardstock For Cards
Colored pencils were my first art supply love, and I still use them on a regular basis. I often use them with watercolor, as their opaque textural strength helps the look of watercolor. Here, I have done the opposite. I started with colored pencil, then added a bit of metallic watercolor. I love the effect! You can dip into your cardstock stash with simple flowers to make unique, handmade cards (VIDEO BELOW). I have also created a seamless pattern in various colorways. You can see examples ...
