Color palettes in nature really inspire me! I love the teals, greens, and pops of red and coral. I used my toned tan art journal and Prismacolor colored pencils for the underpainting. The drawing was in a bit of a different perspective for me, so I though the pencils would help me out later with my layering.
When you add the oil pastels the colors really come to life, as seen in the following photos. Of course, my color pencil job was not thorough, as I knew I would be layering the pastels on top. You can get amazing, vibrant color with these pencils. Nevertheless, oil pastels bring the color and the creamy texture to the drawing! Compare the next two photos. 🙂

I primarily used my Mungyo Gallery oil pastels on this one. I have a VIDEO BELOW! I also made some surface pattern designs that I need to launch out into the world. 🙂 I just love birds.
