The beauty of oil pastels is that they can be layered in a chunkier style, or blended for ultra smoothness. They are not delicate, as watercolor tends to be for example, but bring bold color and versatility. This bird was painted on my favorite Strathmore toned tan paper. I used washi tape for the “clean edge reveal” at the end! 🙂 I was in the mood for bright, happy colors. I used a combination of Mungyo Gallery oil pastels, Paul Rubens, and Artecho. They are all great and bring wonderful color choices!

Adding the background really brought this birdie to life! I love that Mungyo bright green mint color!
