Oil Pastel Cat Painting on Canson XL

I love painting landscapes, flowers, and birds, but I wanted to challenge myself a bit with a cat. We have two cats in our home, and they are always fun! I used a cheerful palette of colors with Artecho, Paul Rubens, and Sennelier oil pastels. Various brands bring different strengths, so don’t be afraid to mix your supplies! I also like to use my colored pencils for details.

What are your favorite subjects to paint? We often like to stay in our comfort zone, but don’t be afraid to try new subjects! πŸ™‚ This painting is far from realism, but even comparing it to a cat painting I did back in 2022, things have improved some. I still have a long way to go! Fur can be intimidating, and I always have a tendency to personify my animals. πŸ™‚
