Oil Pastel Colorful Whale Painting

I have always thought that the ocean was an amazing place. I went whale watching once, and they are such amazing creatures! I wanted to make my whale colorful, as at the time I was testing out Sennelier’s iridescent oil pastel set (which is amazing). I started with a colored pencil underpainting, then added my oil pastels. I like using my colored pencils (or other medium) first, especially when there is a larger space to cover. It helps to fill in the tooth of the paper and makes layering the creamy pastels a bit easier.
