Oil Pastel Fish Painting & VIDEO

I have always loved looking at fish, especially the beautifully colored ones with their iridescent scales. One book that I loved to read to my kids was Rainbow Fish. He learns to share his beautiful, shiny scales. The illustrations are great! Fish are a great thing to paint, because their shape is so simple. You can focus on colors and patterns. I have also created a surface pattern design below! 🙂

I used my trusty toned tan paper from Strathmore! I have a video below!

  • Sennelier Iridescent oil pastels

I started by using my Prismacolor pencils for the underpainting. I layered the oil pastels in sections of color, blending slightly. Adding the iridescent pastels from Sennelier adds special fish-like scale details!
