Oil Pastel Potted Flowers & VIDEO

I love painting florals in all sorts of ways, so this pot of flowers was fun! I grabbed a scrap of Strathmore toned paper and used my colored pencils to block in color and texture. It’s like a color map! Adding oil pastels on top makes the color and texture really pop! I have a video of the process below!

  • Soho oil pastels
  • Paul Rubens Haiya pastels
  • Prismacolor colored pencils
  • Strathmore toned paper

I wanted the pot to be a galvanized-pewter sort of look. I used Soho pastels, Paul Rubens Haiya, and various others that live on my studio desk. 🙂

Here is a surface pattern design with gold stripes that would make a lovely accent wall or fabric for a home decor piece. I have many of my designs at Spoonflower and Raspberry Creek Fabrics!
