The challenge for this painting was to keep myself to a simple, sepia-like palette with just flecks of coral. It is a bit clunky, but overall I love how it turned out. It’s a bit moody, like a forgotten barn in an abandoned field. I used Canson mixed media paper and mostly Mungyo Gallery oil pastels with a few Paul Rubens and Artecho. Each set of oil pastels has some amazing colors to offer unique from the others, so it is nice to have multiple sets. 🙂
Choose a limited color palette and see if your creativity is helped by the limitations. Sometimes, it can feel overwhelming with so many choices. It can actually stifle creativity. Our brains just don’t know where to start, making it easy to quit. Video below!
