This old stone cottage makes me think of Scotland. It’s rugged, sturdy, and practical! There is something tempting about a more simple life. Life feels so noisy, and a lot of that noise feels vain and pointless. I want to be intentional.
I sketched the house with a charcoal pencil on Canson Graduate mixed media paper that I taped off with washi. I believe I mostly used my Artecho oil pastels in this. The color selection is amazing! There is a VIDEO at the bottom of the post!

Really dark backgrounds scare me a bit. If it goes badly, it’s hard to correct. I do love how this painting ended up, so I’m glad I tool the risk. 🙂 Live on the wild side and paint with black and blue. 🙂
