Old-Fashioned Doll ~ Quick Art Excercise

Quick, creative moments are great art exercises. I was flipping through an old Daphne's Diary magazine, when a rag doll caught my eye. I quickly sketched it. Then, I used watercolors and colored pencils. It took about five minutes, but it helped end a creative block. Try it out! :) YOUTUBE SHORT ... View the Post

Dylusions Journal and Oil Pastels

This Dylusions journal from Ranger features high quality black paper that can hold mixed media fun! The underpainting was done with acrylic and gouache, then topped with oil pastels. Bold, opaque colors are perfect for this paper. I like the square shape and sturdy cover that can also be painted. If you use oil pastels, I recommend inserting some parchment or tracing paper over the painting when closed. That way, the colors won't transfer or smudge. YOUTUBE SHORT ... View the Post

The Mythical Firebird & Video

The mythical firebird shows up in prose and poetry. The most popular story is the Russian story by Igor Stravinsky. My firebird has a touch of peacock, but the general fiery colors are there. :) Scroll down for links to my YouTube video and short! YOUTUBE SHORT FAVORITE PRODUCTS ... View the Post

Art Journal Alice with Jane Davenport Stencils & Video

I used Jane Davenport stencils for the basic face, then used various media in this small art journal. Video is below! She reminded me of Alice in Wonderland. :) Her face is soft, while the rest of her pops with details. I used watercolor for the base, then Inktense colored pencils, a pen, and Posca paint pens. Ticket-Shaped Watercolor Journal

I have a new watercolor journal in the shop. This one is a fun ticket shape (a die from Studio Light). I used paints and inks to create the cover. It is bound with elastic, therefore you can remove the pages when you are creating, as well as adding additional pages of your own. It's a great travel size, as well as a perfect size to pop into a large journal. YOUTUBE SHORT! ... View the Post

Art Journal Mess of Color! (YouTube Short)

The nice thing about an art journal is that it is a plac to experiment. Things don't always go to plan, but that's the point. Below is an example that turned out a bit messy, but I love the color! I used Jane Davenport inks, acrylic inks, and Golden fluid acrylics. If you put fluid acrylic ink in a fine liner, you can write with it. YOUTUBE SHORT OF COLORFUL MESS! ... View the Post
