Smudge Flowers in Oil Pastels

Once you start using oil pastels, it is difficult to stop. They are buttery and creamy, giving your artwork that a look of texture and blending. You can use them on paper and canvas. They also work well with other forms of media. I use them with watercolors, acrylic, colored pencils, and soft pastels.

Oil pastels are amazing to use. One of their uses is the “smudged” look, which gives a sort of ethereal look. It also gives a natural, unplanned quality. It’s a great way to experiment and focus an layering color.
