I admit that I love a good bit of Tennyson poetry. 🙂 The Lady of Shalott may be one that you have heard of before!
Willows whiten, aspens shiver.
The sunbeam showers break and quiver
In the stream that runneth ever
By the island in the river
Flowing down to Camelot.
Four gray walls, and four gray towers
Overlook a space of flowers,
And the silent isle imbowers
The Lady of Shalott.
This very basic oil pastel painting in done on Canson mixed media toned paper. This scene didn’t end up like what was in my head, but it was fun to paint nonetheless. We can’t let fear of imperfection stop us from creating! I used a lot of my Mungyo Gallery oil pastels. They are a great pastel! There is a VIDEO at the bottom of the post!

I have a poetry book (shameless plug). 🙂

Here is a pile of well-loved pastels!

Paul Rubens has some great greys in their set. You can also use colored pencils for some detail work, like what I’ve done in the grasses.

This set of Sennelier oil pastels is so beautiful! The shimmer is amazing in person, and you can add flecks of metallic to your work. 🙂
