There are times that you just have to pull out a ton of colors for a single flower. This up-close bold floral is exactly that. I just started layering ALL the colors! š I used Canson Graduate XL in gray, taped off with washi. Between a few oil pastel brands, I was able to layer many of my favorites. Then, I filled in the background with just a few colors for a creamy look to contrast with the textural flower. I have a VIDEO at the bottom of the post!
There are several ways that you can use oil pastels to achieve various textures and styles. I love making creamy backgrounds and having the foreground be more chunky. You could even use a palette knife!


This was a fun exercise to play with colors to see how they would help each other.
