Drawing Little Things

I am often inspired by the quaint, old-fashioned things featured in Daphne's Diary. I love history and lovely things that made a home beautiful. I thought I would draw something other than people and flowers. :) I drew the dresser with a Micron pen, then added colored pencil and Derwent Inktense pencils, activated with water. It was a fun little exercise, and I created a seamless pattern that can be used for fabric or paper. Sometimes, we have to go out of our comfort zone! That is how we ... View the Post

Prismacolor Drawing: Storybook Bunny Lady

I always feel like I have a children's book brewing in my creative teapot. :) I love drawing storybook characters in my art journal. This lady bunny is dressed to impress and wearing her pearls! I'll have to give her a place to go. :) Do you love to draw personified animals? They always seem so wholesome in a world of increasing unwholesomeness. I used ink and my Prismacolor pencils. I also added some Tonic Studios shimmer pen fun to the finished drawing. It's harder to see in the picture, ... View the Post

Oil Pastel Flowers in a Vintage Tin Painting

Oil pastels are so much fun to use! I was inspired by a photo in a Daphne's Diary magazine of wildflowers in a vintage tin. I used Mungyo and Paul Rubens oil pastels on Strathmore toned paper. I also used colored pencils for some of the finer details and writing. They work well with oil pastels! I created a digital paper (below) with this painting, as well as some other oil pastel paintings. I love the color and texture! I have close to eighty oil pastel videos on my YouTube ... Oil Pastel & Inktense Mountain Landscape Painting

I love nature. Creation is a constant reminder that God is powerful and loves beautiful things! The majesty of mountains contrast with the peace of the fields. For this painting, I used my Derwent Inktense pencils to color the large shapes of the fields and mountains. I then activated the color with water. The activated ink, once dry, won't move as more media is layered on top. I switched to my oil pastels, which are great for texture and an impressionist feel. ... View the Post

Watercolor with Neutrals Palette & Video

I grabbed my Jane Davenport neutrals palette and created a colorful blob in my watercolor art journal. Sometimes, that is all I feel like doing when my brain is a creative mush. :) Once I did that, I saw a person! I then painted this girl. It was fun, and encouraging to know that just putting blobs of color down on paper can inspire something! VIDEO AT THE END OF THE POST. I added Inktense pencils and my white Posca paint pen for a few details. This Jane davenport palette has some great ... View the Post
