I can't stay away from my colored pencils and oil pastels! :) They combine the perfect vibrance of color with creamy texture. I love other media like gouache, acrylics, and watercolors, but I keep coming back to my colored pencils and oil pastels. Using colored pencils for the underpainting works well on paper that can't handle watercolor, like Strathmore's toned papers in grey and tan.
