Caran D’Ache Neocolor II Florals

Caran D'ache Neocolor II water soluble sticks are wonderful to add to your mixed media art projects! You can use them dry, or activate with water for creamy goodness. I have the set of 30, but there are larger sets. It really depends on how much you want to invest. I recommend getting a smaller set to see if they work for you. They are comparable to Lyra Aquacolor, but are thinner. This may make them easier to use if you do more detailed work. Here are some patterns that I created. ... View the Post

Flower in Frame Drawing/Doodles & VIDEO

Sometimes, I just feel like doodling in my art journal. Here are a few of my recent doodles, and I have a video for the first one. SEE BELOW I used my zebra brush pen, colored pencils, and a Tonic Studios shimmer pen to add a little sparkle. Doodles are a great way to still create when you don't have a plan. I like how this one almost looks like (kinda-sorta) a stained glass window! Here are some more! This one just below is like a journal page held down with washi. Then, I have ... View the Post

Colored Pencils: Botanicals & A Butterfly

Colored pencils were my first art supply love way (a long way) back in the day. :) Here, I'm using my Prismacolor pencils to color my ink drawing of these wispy botanicals and butterfly. I love using Prismacolor's colorless blender pencils to smooth out some spots. I created a seamless pattern, as you can see on the phone case below. ... View the Post

VIDEO: Alice with Jane Davenport Face Stencils

I love these Jane Davenport face stencils! They really can be a help when you don't want to have to think too hard about face proportions. There are several "styles" that will lead to endless variety. Check out the video below to see the drawing process! I love Alice in Wonderland, so my inspiration for this young lady was from that story. I love my square art journals! Feel free to play! ... View the Post

Peaches: Inktense Pencils Vs. Stabilo-All

I love to paint fruit! I painted the peach on the left with Derwent Inktense pencils, then I decided to pick up my Stabilo All pencil in black to paint the one on the right. I tried to make them as similar as possible. Both pencils are applied dry, then are activated with water. It was an interesting observation to see the value differences. Have you ever tried to paint something in color and then also in black and white? Try it! I'll even let you count it for #Inktober. :) Here is ... View the Post

Drawing Little Things

I am often inspired by the quaint, old-fashioned things featured in Daphne's Diary. I love history and lovely things that made a home beautiful. I thought I would draw something other than people and flowers. :) I drew the dresser with a Micron pen, then added colored pencil and Derwent Inktense pencils, activated with water. It was a fun little exercise, and I created a seamless pattern that can be used for fabric or paper. Sometimes, we have to go out of our comfort zone! That is how we ... View the Post
