This easy, beginner flower painting is a fun one to dip your toes in if you are nervous about trying oil pastels. 🙂 I mostly used Mungyo Gallery and Paul Rubens Haiya oil pastels. They have a ton of colors and are at a great price point. I have used Canson Graduate toned mixed media paper, but you can easily do this in your sketchbook. I taped the sides with washi, so that there would be a clean edge. I don’t often paint very dark backgrounds, but there is something cheerful about coral and navy!
This painting is less about painting a realistic flower, and more about playing with colors. I love mixing greens. Also, sometimes I just need to paint something fast!
