Oil Pastel Framed Florals!

I saw the most beautiful framed florals in an art magazine, which inspired this much more simple version in my toned tan Strathmore sketchbook. I used my oil pastels and Prismacolor colored pencils for a great mixed media duo! 🙂 Using toned paper can be a great help with the dreaded white page brain blank. The toned tan is my favorite, as it sets off colors in the best way. Do you love working on toned paper?

Using Sennelier’s gold oil pastel for finishing touches and highlights is a favorite way to finish a painting. The gold is so beautiful and creamy! Adding bits of color on the frames to reflect the ones in your painting is a great way to tie everything together. There is a short video down below.
