Woodland Mushroom in Colored Pencil

Prismacolor colored pencils are my go-to pencil, as I find them to have the right softness and blend-ability! Here is a woodland mushroom in a few step-by-step photos on some toned paper. To blend them, You can use Gamsol and a blending stump or THIS! Working on Canson toned paper gives the right amount of tooth while still being smooth. It really is a great paper for several forms of media.

Adding in unexpected colors can actually provide great details and some depth in shadow. There is very little in nature that is simple in color, so feel free to pile on the colors!
