I love painting birds! This yellow birds, set off by bright florals, is so cheerful. :) I used mostly Mungyo Gallery and Mont Marte oil pastels on Strathmore toned tan paper. I have a short video below. Oil pastels have become such a favorite art supply! My YouTube channel has tons of videos if you are new to oil pastels, or just need some ideas. Oil Pastel Florals on Canson Cream Paper & VIDEO
Though I will never forsake my Strathmore toned paper, this Canson Graduate cream mixed media paper works really well with oil pastels! These florals were mostly painted with Mungyo Gallery and Paul Rubens oil pastels. I also added some lovely sparkle with the Sennelier Iridescents set. :) Taping off the sides with washi gives nice, clean edges at the end. VIDEO below! There is just enough tooth to hold the pastels! Of course, you can also do an underpainting with watercolor or colored ... View the Post
Oil Pastel Vintage Hot Air Balloon Painting

I started with my Prismacolor colored pencils, then moved to oil pastels. I have a short video at the bottom of the post. Here are some pictures of steps along the way. I don't always know where I'm going, but we get there. :) ... View the Post
Oil Pastel Bird on Fruit Branch & VIDEO
Color palettes in nature really inspire me! I love the teals, greens, and pops of red and coral. I used my toned tan art journal and Prismacolor colored pencils for the underpainting. The drawing was in a bit of a different perspective for me, so I though the pencils would help me out later with my layering. When you add the oil pastels the colors really come to life, as seen in the following photos. Of course, my color pencil job was not thorough, as I knew I would be layering the pastels ... Autumnal Cards!
Between my poor health and other business work, I don't get to make as many cards these days. I miss my paper crafting! I feel like everything I do takes longer now. With Autumn so close (yay!), these leafy cards may inspire you in your own paper crafting. I love the mini wooden buttons. :) The other card features a fun heat embossing technique. My favorite is Ranger Ink gold embossing powder. Just dip your die cuts in some embossing powder and melt. I love the partially embossed look. ... View the Post
