Since we are officially in the fall season, here are some fun cards using various techniques. There is some heat embossing, die cutting from ink-sprayed watercolor papers, and (my favorite) colored pencils on cardstock with the heat embossed stamping. There are a variety of companies from Sizzix to Studio Light. There are some Craftstash products, whom sadly, went out of business. Be free to use your art supplies to create unique cards! ... Oil Pastel Yellow Brick Road Painting
I loved reading the Wizard of Oz books! They are great fun. Of course, I enjoy the movie as well (the old one)! My favorite part is when Dorothy first lands via the house and opens the door to the shockingly vibrant color of Oz! Here is a fun painting of a yellow brick road in my toned tan art journal. I mostly used Mungyo Gallery oil pastels. I also used Paul Rubens and Artecho. Taping off the sides with washi tape gives clean edges for the finish! :) Short video ... View the Post
Oil Pastel Palm Trees Painting & VIDEO
We traveled to Miami, Florida several months ago. The trees there are so different from what this northern girl sees all the time. They had huge berry-like things on them, and were so colorful and pretty! I made a quick sketch with colored pencils in my Strathmore toned paper art journal from a picture that I had taken. I knew it would be easier to add the oil pastels when I was back in my studio. Video is at the bottom of the post! Adding the gold from Sennelier is a fun touch! Their ... View the Post
Artecho Oil Pastels Floral Painting & VIDEO
This was the first complete floral painting wherein I used Artecho oil pastels. I have been using them regularly ever since! They are a great price for a large set of colors, the colors included are beautiful, and the creamy-hardness balance is great! I highly recommend them if you are looking for oil pastels with some color variations from my other favorite, Mungyo Gallery. I used Strathmore toned tan paper, which works so well with colored pencils and oil pastels! ... View the Post
Oil Pastel Mosaic Roses Painting
I love the idea of mosaics, but I haven't had good enough health to take on another art form (sadly). I shall have to paint in a mosaic style instead. I love the cheerful colors of these flowers and the fun vase. I used mostly Artecho oil pastels, which have a lovely array of beautiful colors. The creamy factor of oil pastels really delivers bold color and texture. Oil pastels really are an underrated art supply. Of course, Strathmore toned paper is a great choice! Colored pencils work ... Oil Pastel Viola Pansy & VIDEO
This Viola Pansy is the flower with a fashion statement! :) What a hairdo! I love purple, so this was fun to paint in my Strathmore toned paper art journal. VIDEO BELOW! Creamy oil pastels are perfect for conveying texture and variegated colors in small or big paintings. I love using these flowers in my surface pattern designs. Art supplies are just great to look at. They are art in and of themselves. My favorite store as a kid had art supplies! I fell in love at an early ... View the Post
