I love doors that lead to secret places, like beautiful and mysterious gardens! I loved reading The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett, and ever since, have loved the idea of a stone wall and locked doors. Oil Pastel Rose Farm Landscape Painting & VIDEO
I have been enjoying painting simple landscapes, and for this painting, I limited myself to a specific rose-like palette. I used Artecho oil pastels along with my Prismacolor colored pencils for detail work and sketching. The Canson Graduate toned paper works really well holding up the creamy pastels. Freshly Milled Crackers
Because of the need to follow an anti-inflammatory diet in our household, I have had to switch to exclusively freshly milled bread products, including breads, crackers, pastas, and muffins. Of course, this is healthy to do in any case, but I have been replacing things over the last few months. Mermaid Tail Painting in Oil Pastels & VIDEO
This painting was a bit out of the norm for me, but I wanted to try the Sennelier silver oil pastel with fish scales, which led to a mermaid's tail. :) I used Canson Graduate mixed media toned paper that I taped with washi for clean edges at the finish. This peaceful painting on Strathmore toned tan paper is my ideal stone cottage surrounded by abundant florals. The peaceful, simple life is often what we want in a chaotic world.
