I don't know what it is about artists and pears, but we sure like to paint them! I am using Mungyo Gallery oil pastels, a couple of my favorite Paul Rubens, and gold details with Sennelier. I love the feel of a simple table, green hues, and a few specks of color on the pear. Oil pastels work wonderfully in my Strathmore toned tan paper art journal. Sometimes, we just have to go back to the basics and remember why we love to paint. Check out the VIDEO at the bottom of the post! :) I ... View the Post
Landscape Oil Pastel Painting & VIDEO
I love the countryside, so painting a fun field with a house was the subject of this landscape painting. I rotate my sets of oil pastels, but today's supplies were mostly Mungyo Gallery oil pastels on Canson Graduate toned paper. Mungyo oil pastels were my first set of oil pastels. They are responsible for making the experience wonderful. Now, over a hundred paintings later, they continue to sit on my studio desk, always ready for action. They have a great balance between creaminess and ... View the Post
Oil Pastels & Jane Davenport Face Stencils with VIDEO
I have long been a fan of Jane Davenport products. I love her face to face stencils set that provides a great starting point for drawing. You can go a million directions with each face, so it is the perfect way to have fun in your sketchbook and maintain variety with limited supplies. I also love her book on faces! It is inspirational with great instructions. Her whimsical approach is inspiring. :) I have a video of my painting at the bottom of the post! For this painting, I used oil pastels ... View the Post
Oil Pastel Flowers in the Window Painting & VIDEO
I really love how this one turned out! I love pictures of old stone houses with flowers in a window box. These flowers are pouring out. :) I mostly used Paul Rubens oil pastels and Sennelier gold for accents. I have a video at the bottom of the post! This Canson Graduate XL mixed media paper in a creamy color is my second favorite paper to use with oil pastels. They blend really well on it. Of course, you can use other media too, but it is a more affordable price that some other pastel ... View the Post
Oil Pastel Impressionism Dainty Florals & VIDEO
There are days where simple is just better. I have learned that it is better to have ten minutes of basic creating, rather that go for long periods waiting for a larger time slot. I wish society would slow down. I don't think it benefits us to be bopping around and there. I want to also wish everyone a happy and creative new year! Thank you for following along with my creative journey. Last year was one of the hardest years I've had in my life (and I could tell some painful stories), but I am ... View the Post
Baby Chick Oil Pastel Painting
We have had some bitterly cold and very windy days here of late. Painting springtime chicks for Easter seemed like a good idea. :) I'm using my Strathmore toned tan paper art journal and Mungyo Gallery oil pastels. I also used a charcoal pencil and my Prismacolor colored pencils for some of the finer detail. I love using this paper, as it is easy to blend the pastels. Below are some step-by-step photos. I didn't make a full length video of this painting, but there is a short YouTube video ... View the Post
